An Historic Development
Holland Park is a development steeped in history with nobility in residence from as far back as the 14th century. The title of the Duke of Exeter dates back to 1397 when it was bestowed upon John Holland – from whom the park takes its name – the half-brother of King Richard II.
While the title was granted to Henry V’s uncle, Thomas
Beaufort, after it was rescinded upon Henry IV’s accession to
the throne, it moved back to the Holland family with Henry
taking on the title in the mid-15th century. The land upon
which Holland Park is situated was formerly known as Weir
Park and remained the estate of the Duke up until 1929 when
it was sold to the neighbouring Exeter Golf and Country Club.
In its current guise, Holland Park retains its regal charm that
adds to its character and standing as one of Exeter’s most
prestigious and sought-after developments.
History in the making!
It is perhaps appropriate that a location so steeped in history should also be the setting for “history in the making”.
Working with the support of the Planning Department of Exeter City Council, Heritage Homes are delighted to be able to build Holland Park as Exeter’s very first development of prestigious ZERO Carbon Homes, delivering cutting edge eco-friendly contemporary new homes in Exeter designed for the future!
